Overview:
The Director of Procurement will work expressly within inventory, warehouse, planning and purchasing to ensure the consistency, cost-effectiveness, efficiency and adequacy of the procurement and inventory process. This person will be responsible for overseeing and facilitating the purchasing/inventory strategy, supervising teams of subordinate staff in purchasing, operations and ensuring all employees and processes meet the company’s standards and designations for work quality. Below is a description of the primary job responsibilities and key skills and attributes that are essential to the position.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain and implement construction proforma/budget for each project.
- Monitoring, reviewing, and analyzing bids and quotes with suppliers, including the negotiation of service agreements and contractors.
- Establish guidelines for approving purchase orders, set purchasing policies, manage inventory and budget for materials.
- Maintain and establish new relationships with vendors to ensure adequate resources for all projects and to continually improve pricing and quality of work.
- Mentor and supervise purchasing and warehouse/inventory team.
- Document best practices in the purchasing process and seek to optimize where applicable.
- Develop and implement new purchasing strategies to deliver ongoing cost reductions and process simplification.
- Assist in settling invoice or contract disputes.
- Adhere to and maximize purchasing budget.
- Adhere to and enforce safety best practices, policies, and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Maintaining knowledge of the market, in addition to current prices and fair rates for goods
- Planning policies and procedures for efficiently, honestly, economically and productively purchasing goods for supply chain production and operation
- Monitoring, reviewing and analyzing bids and quotes with suppliers, including the negotiation of service agreements and contracts
- Overseeing sources for purchasing supplies
- Maintaining company budget and streamlining costs

Qualifications & Requirements:
- Strong proficiency in construction materials is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- General knowledge of construction or metal fabrication processes.
- Advance knowledge of Word and Excel.
- Experience with Fishbowl and QuickBooks is desirable.
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- At least 10 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of five years in management
- Extensive field knowledge
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to direct others according to company standards
- Exemplary multitasking and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, lift, reach, grasp, and perform repetitive motion.
- Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
